Efficiency vs Effectiveness When Home Shopping
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

If you listen to business gurus, they are forever expounding upon the concept of efficiency being the key to success. When shopping for a new home, however, this is not always the case.

Efficiency is all about focusing on a specific task and getting it done in an orderly and timely manner. The art of buying real estate in the best possible way, however, is not inherently an efficient task. Let’s take a closer look.

As an efficient home shopper, you would probably search for potential homes online before getting on the road. This is both efficient and effective. Once on the road, however, you would probably run by the homes on your list. If you found one that met with your curb appeal desires, you would probably call the owner on your cell phone. If the owner is not there, efficiency demands you move on to the next home. After all, you have a lot of homes to look at if you have developed your list thoroughly.

By being efficient in your house hunting, you can see where potential problems might develop. In our scenario in the proceeding paragraph, you have skipped over a home for what reason? Is there anything wrong with it? No. You have skipped it because of the non-critical factor that the owner or agent didn’t answer the phone. In short, you may have missed a perfect solution to your real estate needs for a semantic reason that bears no relation to the characteristics of the home. You have been efficient, but not effective in your house hunting.

I know what you are thinking. I’ll just make a note to call on the home at a later time. This is an efficient and logical choice. If you ever have shopped for a home, however, you know this doesn’t always happen. In many cases, the task slips to the back of your mind because of the sheer information overload from looking at numerous houses. At the end of the day, you may pull the note out of your pocket and not be able to recall what the home looked like or why you were interested. In short, I am talking about reality!

While you definitely need to be efficient in your house shopping, do not let it rule the task. The goal is to find a property you love. Be loath to pass over a home for some semantic reason that has nothing to do with the home in general.
