Economy Hits Hard at Shelters

With many people facing these terrible times, the companions that have lived with us are suffering. They are being thrown out and put in shelters and even out on the streets to defend themselves. When you first get your pet, you already know that their will be expenses and so forth but you would have never suspected that you couldn't take care of them. People have had companions for years and years but still have learned different ways to take care of their responsibilities.

Like for instance the vetting you do upfront can very likely help with future expenses that may occur later. Spaying and neutering at an early age can help prevent cancer and other serious reproductive illnesses. So the upfront 100-300 dollars could save you that 1000 dollar radiation or therapy bill or even the prescriptions. Then there is also the shots and preventative. I would rather spend a hundred a month with five dogs for heartworm preventative then to have to pay $500 each time they get heartworms. Their shots are important to I would rather spend the cash for the preventative shot then to have to have to loose a companion to rabies ( which would, with my luck, save my own life from getting bit).

Food is another issue that people face. They cannot afford the food for their companions. Well find cheaper food. Search around for deals, coupons, and specials directly from the supplier or the store. A dog that is getting fed is a happy dog. I personally would rather be fed something I really don't care for to much then to die because I couldn't find a new owner. Sometimes people can be so selfish. Yes times are harder, yes things aren't so cheap anymore. Get over you wanted the responsibility then try like hell to keep it right.

All across America dogs are being gassed and euthanized due to owners that think they are doing the right thing. But they don't realize they aren't. If you really care keep your companion feed it cheaper food, get the vetting it needs (most vets will still work with you if they are good), Do whatever you need to do, make your pets life matter and let them live.
