From an ecological standpoint, some photo albums easily qualify as eco-friendly photo albums and organic photo albums, in that some are handmade in a workshop rather than a factory, thus eco-friendly, and are made from natural materials just outside the window there at the workshop, things such as bamboo, flowers, leaves and seeds rather than metal or plastic, thus organic. "There" is the island of Bali, part of the 15,000-island nation of Indonesia. This may sound like an island which is somehow familiar to you. You may know someone who has taken a beach vacation there, or you may have gone yourself. It's a beautifully exotic place. If the devastating tsunami which hit a huge area of the Indian Ocean on December 26 a few years ago had hit the Pacific instead, there would have been a tremendous amount of damage, of course. This would be especially true if it were a cement block building with lots of million dollar machines housed inside. But, being a workshop instead, using materials readily at hand, they would have been up and running again in a much shorter time, and at a fraction of the cost--a real advantage of a green industry.
So, we've established that some photo albums are both eco-friendly and organic. However, one dictionary definition of this type of "green" refers to a person, and states that they would be "a supporter of a social and political movement that espouses global environmental protection, bioregionalism, social responsibility, and nonviolence" possibly some of the handcrafters and some of our customers would qualify. But another definition we found would actually refer to the albums--"environmentally sound or beneficial", and we would respond to that definition with a resounding "Yes, they're green in every sense!" As opposed to a paper mill coming in the area, or the arrival of slash-and-burn methods of clearing land for start-up farming, this does no damage whatsoever. More businesses of this nature should be encouraged worldwide, but especially in the ecologically diverse, but extremely fragile environment of the jungle, where the soil is too weak and thin to support farming, and where logging or an actual factory would be devastating to the environment.
If you come across a photo album made in Bali, most likely you're buying an album that is "green" and eco-friendly.

Jim Green lives in Rockford, IL, and enjoys traveling whenever possible. He's traveled to all 50 states, as well as 56 countries, with lots more on his life list. But, he enjoys traveling solo, rather than as part of an organized group, and meeting the local people. Thus, youth hostels and private homes are much more attractive to him than hotels. He owns an eCommerce business called http://www.forestcityphotoalbums.com, and is looking forward to the day that it makes up the majority of his total income.
