The famed spiritual teacher and renowned author, Eckhart Tolle, was born in Germany on February 16, 1948. Born Ullrich Leonard Tolle, he lived with his father in Spain from the time he was 13 until the age of 19. Then moving to the United Kingdom he refused to attend a formal school claiming it was a hostile environment. He instead studied language, astronomy and language, his favorite subjects. Moving on to graduate from the University of London he then entered, but failed to finish, the doctoral program at Cambridge University. When Tolle was 29 he experienced what he refers to as an inner transformation. During this transformation Tolle reevaluated his life, looking inward and working toward a better self understanding.
Eckhart Tolle wrote the his first book, "The Power Of Now", in 1998. He has since went on to write several books including the follow up to his first book, "A New Earth". Tolles teachings which seem to center on the inner self, have helped millions of people reach a better understanding of their lives and find the peace they have been searching for all along. Inspired by the teachings of other spiritual people Tolle leads his readers to a spiritual fulfillment that helps them in their day to day lives.
Theses days Eckhart Tolle is kept busy with traveling and public speaking. A very popular public figure he is highly sought after a teacher, and also as a speaker, throughout the world. His teachings of transforming the human consciousness is seen by Tolle as the next step forward in the evolution of man. Tolle believes that this is the answer not only to the completion of mans destiny, but also the way to end conflict and violence of the entire planet.
Tolles works, intensives and also the inspiring talks are available on DVD and also CD. While most are published in English, some are now available in Spanish and German. Eckhart Tolle has recently written a book geared for personal reflection. The book is Stillness Speaks and is filled with meditative moments for the reader to explore the inner self.
Whether or not you believe the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, you will be amazed by the peace and tranquility found in his voice and his writings. Obviously a man who is in touch with his innermost self Tolle has been a mentor for many people who needed a avenue to their own inner peace.
