Eating to gain muscle, is one of the most important steps when on your bodybuilding journey. You simply cannot put on very much muscle mass at all without having proper nutrition and an influx of carbs, proteins and fats constantly in your body.

The reason for this is that protein supplies the building blocks for the body to rebuild itself and add new muscle, the carbs provide mainly energy, along with the bulk of the calories, and the fat keeps your heart healthy and your system running smoothly.

Below I will list 5 tips on eating to gain muscle:

* Always eat 500 calories over your daily maintenance requirement, any more than this and it will end up as fat, and any less and you wont be building very much muscle.

* Try to keep your protein/carbs/fat ratio at approximately 30/50/20 this is the optimal amount to shoot for, it doesn't have to be perfect, just aim for this when your on your diet.

* Always plan ahead, skipping a meal can do more harm than you think, and will set you back, remember eating something is better than eating nothing, so grab a piece of cheese or a glass of milk whenever possible.

* When eating to gain muscle,make sure that you are eating high quality foods, such as from lean turkey, beef and steak, and your carbs from wheat breads, or brown rice, and fat from nuts, and healthy olive oils and such.

*Try to eat you carb heavy meals earlier in the day, when your body needs it most and as the day goes on eat less and less carbs, and more protein and fat, and carbs should be avoided if at all possible the last 2 meals of the day.
