Energy has been essential to mankind even before we were born. As a matter of fact, simple things that we do everyday require energy. There are various forms of energy that we all know namely, chemical, electrical, light, mechanical, solar, sound and thermal energy. The simplest among all is the solar energy. It is because this form of energy can be generated through the sun which is always there up above the sky. In fact, there are already possible ways on how to build a solar power system all by ourselves.
Making solar power systems on our own can actually costs us $200 to $300. This cost is nothing compared to the benefits that it can guarantee us. The solar power system's parts are readily available on our market nowadays. The first step on how to build a solar power system is to purchase a solar panel, even just a small one. The small solar panels can have at least 12 volts. However, it would be much better if the solar panel that we are going to purchase has a potential difference of 16 volts.
The second step is to purchase 12 volt lead or 12 volt acid battery. The battery should be a deep size so that we can use it continuously. After all, we don't need to worry that much because there are bargain batteries available on the market. But when purchasing bargain batteries, we should always bear in mind that it should have still a high quality. Also, along with the purchase of the battery, we should also have a box where we can put our battery on for safety purposes. However, if the location for the solar power system is in the boat, cabin or pump shed, battery box is not necessary anymore.
Another thing to purchase is a direct current (DC) meter which should be 12 volts. In addition, a direct current (DC) input is also needed. The triple inlet model type of DC inputs is preferable because it is economical and can power DC appliances as well. Nevertheless, we can also power alternating current (AC) appliances through the use of an inverter. The inverter will be responsible for converting the DC power stored in the battery into an AC power to run our AC appliances. Then, we now have to drill the top part of our box to attach the DC meter as well as the DC or AC inputs. Next is to connect the battery terminals on the meter. We can use wires which are insulated to avoid unnecessary electric shocks. We should first connect the negative poles of the terminals among all others.
Afterwards, we have to connect already the battery and the DC inlet. Also, we can now connect the battery to our solar panel. And when we are finished doing all those connections, we can now close the lids and bring our solar panel directly in the sun. The solar power system which we have made can also be added onto larger batteries, inverters and panels to power up high voltage appliances.
Indeed, the ways on how to build a solar power system is just easy if we are only going to follow the aforementioned steps very carefully. If ever we have accomplished the system, we can now have at least lower electric bills or even free power supply. And not only that, we are also saving our environment from other harmful sources of energy.
