Binding your own book can look like a difficult task at first. You may think that only machines can do the job of bookbinding. While most of the books are bound by machines, there are many people who have started to bind their own books. They have found a creative work which can be done easily. You too can start bookbinding at home right now. You only need some information. In this easy bookbinding article we will see how you can do perfect bookbinding.

If you have some books or novels at home, you can see how a perfect binding looks like. There are several papers which are just stuck together with a glue and a paper cover is attached over it. If you are learning bookbinding for the first time then you may be thinking that it is not possible. Be optimistic because this is cent percent possible. Follow the steps below and you will have a perfect bound book at the end.

  • 1) Take all the pages and fold them in half. See that the two ends meet perfectly end to end.
  • 2) Arrange all the folded pages one below the other according to the page numbers.
  • 3) To hold this position tightly, clamp near the spine on both edges.
  • 4) Now take a glue ( pva glue or strong glue ) and using a brush apply it on the spine. Spread it all over the spine and keep a heavy object above it. Let it dry for sometime.
  • 5) Again apply the glue on the spine and let it dry for some more time.
  • 6) Now the internal of the book is ready. Take a thick paper for cover. Fold it using a ruler to fit the spine correctly.
  • 7) Apply the glue once more on the spine and attach the cover. Keep a heavy object above and let it dry. After a couple of hours you will have perfect bound book ready.

This is a very easy bookbinding method. You just need to practice for some time and then you can make perfect bound books which will match those from publishing houses.
