There are tons of different at-home acne treatments that you can find by doing a simple search around the web. Most of them don't work, some of them are pretty funny, but a few of them will actually get you some results. I'm certainly not a scientist and can't show you why these few work, but from my own experience they've produced results. In this article, I'll share with you what I've used for fast and easy acne treatments right in my own home.
The treatment that gave me the best results was the easiest and most common sense. Changing your pillow case every few days will help prevent acne from building up overnight. You pillow case acts like a sponge that soaks up all of the oil and goo that's on your face while you sleep and spreads it all over the place. I know this sounds gross, but it's true. Even if you wash your face, your clean skin will keep producing oil as you sleep and keep the cycle up. In order to prevent doing laundry every day, but a few sets of pillow cases and swap them out. The frequency will depend on how severe your acne is. If you suffer from bad acne, swap it out every day. If you're acne is milder change it every two to three days.
Another at-home treatment that has worked really well for me (and I don't know why) is putting a dab of honey on a pimple and letting it set for a few hours. It didn't totally get rid of pimple, but it did reduce its size and redness. If you live in an area that has lots of bees, I wouldn't recommend going outside with honey on your face.
Applying toothpaste to a pimple is a common home remedy for acne, but I didn't get great results from it. I'd say that about 40% of the time it did nothing for me, but that doesn't mean it won't work for you. The premise is similar to the honey treatment, but you leave the toothpaste on overnight. Be sure to change your pillowcase after!
