A recently released eBook entitled Earth4Energy has created quite a buzz on the internet over recent weeks.

The book is about something that is fundamentally quite simple -- using wind power and solar energy in your own home to generate electricity. Already there are people making use of these technologies, so why has the book been received with such open arms?

The main reason is that, up until now, solar power and wind energy have been quite cost prohibitive. Generally, they have only been setup by people who were either in areas with no stable electricity supply or by environmentally aware individuals with big chequebooks.

With the price of home energy beginning to skyrocket -- helped in no part by the high fossil fuel prices -- green values are no longer the main driver for people interested in finding out how to setup their own electricity supply. Many homeowners live in areas with good wind speed, and almost everyone lives in areas that get sunshine -- both of these can be easily harnessed. The book gives guides on how to setup both a solar electricity generation system and a wind electricity generation system. It tells you how to build these products cheaply but safely -- depending on the parts used it is possible to setup both systems for between $100 -- $200.

The electricity generated can be used for a number of things -- from a small supply to power your tools, lighting or water heating, to being wired up to your main supply and powering everything in your house (with the help of a proper electrician of course). If you live in the right state/country, and generate enough electricity, you may even be able to feed some of it back into the grid.
