Everyone likes to wear buttons. They define your interest at the moment. Examples: Politicians use them by the gazillions, team members like to be identified, team fans want you to know who they are rooting for, travel groups use them to get to know each other, and to help the tour leader keep up with his/her group.
Raise money by having buttons made that include your team logo, perhaps specific buttons with special team members, their picture, their name. Have different buttons that are encouraging -- for example, Yeah Team, Go Team, (team name) are Winners. Sell these buttons to your fans, the team, the cheerleaders, etc. If you are competing with another team, you could have buttons for their team too, thereby doubling your sales by selling buttons to them too! Expand this further: have a "line" of buttons that are just about that activity. For example: I (heart) football; My team can beat your team; Born to dance; A bad day at tennis beats a good day at the office. The list can be as long as you can think of good/funny/clever sayings. Once you get your thinking caps on, the list can be endless. If you need ideas, steal them from the internet, from other activities. You've seen funny things on t-shirts, bumper stickers. Borrow these ideas! By the way, those are other items to sell as well. They cost more than buttons, but are certainly viable items. Items are limitless -- advertising companies sell them all.
