Duvet Covers - The Thin Line Between Protection and Filth

Expert Author Denzale D Montgomery

People who use duvet covers often only use it for one reason and that one reason is because it makes your bedding look even better. I mean think about it, when you have a big fluffy expensive comforter, although it may feel great to sleep in, almost like sleeping on a cloud, it can sometimes not be the most impressive type of bedding to look at. That is especially true if you have an expensive down comforter because with the box stitching and the high fill power it can make your bed look weird and that is where duvet covers come in to play. They turn that comforter and make it look nice and smooth and flat.

But, there is another big reason why we use this type of bedding and you will know it if you have ever tried to get a comforter clean before. The first thing that occurs when you try to clean it is that there is lint balls all over the bedding and it can take a lifetime to get all of these pieces off of your bedding. This is of course if you are lucky because since comforters are so big and bulky they easily get stuck and end up tearing your very expensive bedding into shreds.

But, the main reason why we use duvet covers is the protection they give us and our duvets from bacteria. Because instead of your duvets getting dirty and maybe harboring bacteria between it's down the comforter cover will act as a pillow case and protect your bedding from any harm and that is why we need our comforter covers.
