As Maui Jack flew home from his amazing vacation of surfing the Costa Rica beaches, he dreamed about living that life on a daily basis. Is it not everyone's secret fantasy to make their hobby their day job? A wise man said, do what you love and you will be successful in what you do. You probably have a fairly vast knowledge, or at least a desire to gain more knowledge, of whatever it is that you do for fun, be it surfing, fishing, quilting, cooking, or staying fit. That knowledge and the passion you have for your hobby is all you need to do what you love for a living.

Maui Jack was a weekend surf warrior. Here is a scenario of how Maui Jack found his new day job.  Jack popped open his laptop and searched for a wholesale supplier directory. He knew that he needed an honest and reputable source for his surfboards and surf wear. No true wholesaler would sell to just anyone. Jack needed to make sure his supplier was a manufacturer, not a middle man. Access to a good wholesale directory required a decent registration fee, which he gladly paid, knowing that it would mean decreased aggravation and saving money in the long run. 

He asked all the right questions about drop shipping rates (Jack did not want to stock and ship the boards himself), about return policies and guarantees, and about their references. Checking references was wisely important to Jack. He found a company whose product and policies he could live with and signed some contracts. Jack got his buddy, Malibu Muffy, the web design expert, to create a fantastic virtual surf shack, and within six weeks he was open for business and ready to move to Hawaii. Of course, Jack used excellent search engine optimization, social networking, and other marketing tools to advertise his new online surf store, but Muffy knew all the ins and outs of that end of the production.

It sounds pretty easy, does it not? I think it is. The new world of ecommerce brings global buying and selling to your own living room. You may choose to use an existing auction site to set up your store or go independent. However you do it, remember to have fun and follow your dreams. The world is waiting.
