Interest in home-based business is an all time high. Maybe the tools that make the internet possible have purely give voice to the hunger for the sovereignty that home industry appears to offer.
One appearance of this is a kind of blood lust for dependable information item sourcing. People are looking at electronic commerce as a feasible way of sustainable profit. And that means profit free and clear of the "grid" of mainstream 9-5 or 8-5 employment.
The point is that drop shipping businesses and legitimate wholesale item providers offer a lawful means of solving this item sourcing issue. But, before you start searching for wholesale and drop ship providers, it is vital to arm yourself with some basic details that will save you money, time and frustration.
To really understand drop shipping businesses, you have to first understand what a real wholesaler business is. A wholesale group is a business with a definite license granted by its state of residence to buy items from the makers without paying sales tax. The wholesale provider then sells, or distributes, the goods to resellers or retailers at a wholesale rate established by the wholesaler. The wholesale rate is sometimes a result of compromise between the wholesaler and retailer. In general, the bigger quantities purchased, the lower the wholesale rate.
Real wholesale businesses can only sell to retailers who have a sales tax permit, and this must be granted to resellers by the state of residence. By the way, tax permits are often free and easy to acquire. This means that you can constantly identify a real wholesaler by whether or not it requires evidence of your sales tax permit. A company, who does not require evidence of a sales tax permit, regardless of how low their rates, is not a real wholesale business. They are actually in the retail business. A wholesale business, by definition, is required by law to have evidence of your sales tax permit.
Drop shipping is a service, which used to be offered by wholesale businesses to their retailer customers. It simply means that the item distributor stocks its inventory in its storehouse. When you sell an item, you then send the payment to the drop ship party, and it, in turn, ships the item under your trade name to your client. Your client is never directly conscious of the drop shipper. This is known as "blind drop shipping."
Remember; not all drop shippers are wholesalers and not all wholesalers are drop shippers. Just because a group is a drop ship group does not mean that it is a real wholesale business.
