Driving a Golf Ball With Irons - Be Realistic and Practice Regularly to Get it Right
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

The woods are often considered the best club for driving a golf ball. However, professionals prefer using 1 iron and 2 irons for drives. The irons offer higher accuracy as compared to the woods. This can make all the difference between victory and defeat in a tough match. A drive with a wood is always difficult to control. On the other hand, using golf driving irons for a drive will help you easily shave a few strokes off your score on an easy course. On a tough course, teeing off with irons can help you avoid ending up with disastrous scores.

If this is the case, why don't people always make use of golf driving irons instead of woods? Teeing off with golf driving irons is something that even professionals find very daunting. A beginner will find his drives veering crazily in different directions. Apart from messing up the scores, the embarrassment of watching the ball fly into the trees again and again discourages most individuals from using irons for driving a golf ball.

A par 3 hole normally involves driving with the woods, approaching the greens with the irons and finishing the hole with a putt. Golfers use an extra iron shot in a par 4 hole and use the woods twice in par 5 holes and above. If you want to practice driving a golf ball with irons, you should switch from woods to irons for the second drive in par 5 holes and above. This is a much better option as compared to directly teeing off with a 1 iron. As you practice regularly, you will automatically gain the confidence to try and tee off with driving irons.
