We've all heard the horror stories on the evening news. New research is frequently showing that tap water-even in states with typically higher quality tap water-is being found to have all kinds of chemicals, most recently traces of pharmaceutical drugs. Drugs like anti-convulsants, antibiotics, mood stabilizers and other prescription drugs have been found in the drinking water supply of over 41 million Americans. Are drinking water filters the answer to this problem?
If you're anything like me then this worries you. It took me a few days at first just to realize and appreciate how frequently I use tap water, and how any risk of it being contaminated is putting me and my family in jeopardy.
Think about it, you wake up every morning and hop in the shower, brush your teeth, grab coffee and head out the door. We tend to perform these activities daily without putting a whole lot of thought into them. We often do not think of how much tap water we are using, let alone how clean the tap water is as well. As Americans a lot of us are simply too busy to worry about this kind of thing, but is the luxury of not worrying really worth the risk?
The answer is obvious, and it is simple. No! It is not worth the risk. The health implications of prescription medicine contaminated tap water (that is affecting over 41 million Americans already) are far too drastic to overlook anymore. In order to remain responsible individuals in regards to our own health and our family's and loved ones, there is simply no excuse to not using cleaner water.
Nature didn't intend for water to be laced with antibiotics and chemicals so strong they are frequently prescribed to patients with severe mental disabilities. Nature intended water to be clean and pure, and you should get nothing less from your tap.
The newest, most economical and affordable way to make sure your tap water is clean is by the use of drinking water filters. Contrary to their connotative name, water filters can even be applied to almost any tap, even your shower head.
There are also filters for a wide variety of faucets and even entire home purification systems that are available. Cleaner tap water for your family can mean the difference between drinking a glass full of pure and healthy water or a glass full of toxins and prescription medicines that the local water plant simply lets go by.
