Drainage - Important Aspects

Drainage or sewerage system of a house is as important as Excretory System of human body. Both are almost identical in nature. Proper and comprehensive excretory system of human body is vital to human health. Similarly sewerage system of a house, locality, factory or an industrial unit is of foremost importance. Atmospheric purity and cleanliness is always affected positively, or negatively, by adequacy or inadequacy of the nearby drainage systems respectively.

Presently we are living in an age of industrial development. Industry is backbone of economy of any country without discrimination. There is not an iota of doubt in the fact that agriculture is also an industry and has been declared as such. So, drainage systems of urban and rural areas are equally important. Ponds of stagnant water are a very bitter ground reality of localities of different towns and cities of economically weak countries.

But shortage of funds is not the only cause of this very tragic aspect of life. Ponds of stagnant water give birth to various germ carrier insects and viruses which deter human health. Sometimes acute health problems go out of control and result in loss of precious human lives. Sometimes rain water finds no outlet and gathers in low laying areas where pounds are shaped up. Detailed knowledge of proper sewerage systems can be inculcated in the minds of people dwelling in urban or rural areas through result oriented education. Sewerage systems whether domestic, commercial or industrial are equally important. Drainage system of a house, shop, locality or an industrial unit, when compared to the excretory system of human body, its importance will certainly be revealed to us appropriately. It is an obligation which requires equal participation of individual and collective efforts. One strives for one's own survival. A well-dressed person wearing neat and clean clothes breathing in polluted air and drinking contaminated, rather poisonous, water is nothing more than a mockery of his or her enviable appearance. Preventive measures against leakage, seepage or evaporation of polluted water running in the mini or main water courses which a sewerage system comprises of should be taken with maximum possible care vigilance.
