Magical Elixirs, isn't that what the traveling salesman of old would tout as they would travel from town to town in their covered wagon. "It'll cure what ails ya'...", would be their cry. They would make some quick sales and would head to the next town. But the bottles didn't contain any medicinal value to them except for the high volume of alcohol. The townsfolk usually didn't find out till the salesman was gone.
People have always been trying to improve their physical condition. They have ingested every variety of plant, which didn't always come with the results they were hoping to achieve. Can you imagine the life expectancy of most early lab assistants for "taste-testers".
Anyway the quest for the Fountain of Youth is as timeless as man himself. To return the body to it's youthful state or at least help it to repair itself as it did when were kids is high of everyone's list of self improvements. To have that boundless energy, to jump out of bed instead of crawling out of bed has led several nutritional companies to offer various products for our consumption.
Aloe Vera benefits, nature's most medicinal plant and it's curative properties has been recognized since the time of Cleopatra. The restorative qualities that it offers does cry out "It'll cure what ails ya'...". So does it offer any "Anti-Aging" properties?
In Dr. Phibes Rises Again, Vincent Price reprises his role as Dr. Phibes, a mad scientist sort who wants to find the River of Life. Finding the River of Life will be enable him to live forever and return the life of his deceased wife. A B-movie but a fond favorite of mine from my childhood.
Anti-Aging and anything that help us remain feeling ageless will continue to be one of man's eternal quests. As more and more boomers grow older the product offerings will continue to be there.
