Whenever you're talking to a prospect about your home based business there are always a few questions that tend to trip people up for some reason. I'm not exactly sure why it is but I believe it has something to do with the fact that a lot of network marketers work off of a script and when your prospect deviates from that script (oh and trust me they will!) you're not sure what to do about about it.
We've all been to network marketing meetings where the guy at the front demonstrates what he says to a prospect on the phone and it all sounds so good. Of course it sounds good because the person role playing with the guy in the front is another part of the business and he's giving all the right answers.

This is Bob
Hi, Bob I heard you were interested in a home based business is that correct?
Why yes it is!
Do you have time to talk to me about a great opportunity?
I sure do!
OK here goes....
Now, anyone who has made even a few prospecting calls knows it pretty much NEVER goes down like that. You either...
A) Call and Bob yells at you for bothering him
B) Call and get Bob's wife who isn't so pleased that you've called and tells you in no uncertain terms that Bob isn't interested
C) It's not even Bob's phone number
D) Bob IS interested but he can't talk now
Of course there are a million other ways it could go down but these are a few of the most common. My point is that network marketing scripts don't work because the prospect won't stay on the script! Instead we need to be getting use to just calling prospects up and having conversations with them no script, no agenda just talking to people about a great opportunity. If you do this I PROMISE it will make the calls go so much smoother.
No expectations, if the prospect just wants to talk a little bit about the business fine, if the prospect wants all the details right then and there fine! Let them tell you what they want and they WILL! Lose the script and you won't get so thrown off whenever someone says something you weren't expecting. Start having good conversations with nice people and you'll start to love prospecting again!
