Have you ever heard anyone say that? I have, and when I did, quite frankly, I was nearly put off. I certainly was enthusiastic in my affiliate home business venture but I didn't realize how shaky my confidence was, until I heard that statement. It completely shattered me.
In life, it is so important to turn off the negative comments that blast the atmosphere. However, you know, it is easier to halt negative comments from people you have known for years as complainers. I mean, these people usually don't complain about big things either. "It's just that the coffee machine isn't working. I can't ever get a parking space outside my house. I always get the wrong person when I go for information." It said on the news it is going to rain again this weekend!" That type of negativity is easy to recognize and you can ward it off.
The more subtle and, in my opinion, more insidious type of negativity is, so often, right within your four walls. For working mums often it is the dear man sitting on the couch who is wanting his dinner immediately when you are spending a minute checking your website, or your teenager's comment about your non-existent technical skills to his friend. Or, what about your colleague with whom you confide and her ironical grin and disbelief at you doing anything like that, says it all! That's when the damage goes in because, if someone we love or respect, makes a negative comment about our venture, it tends to flip us.
I love remembering the Gold Miner story I heard as a kid growing up in Australia. The story is of a gold-miner who, after having persisted for many, many months in the hot sun looking for gold finally gave up and the very next day, another man staked out his claim and found the gold vein...and of course, made millions.
Having an affiliate home business is a venture where slow steady progress is essential. This is much better than enthusiastic spurts where you burn the midnight oil, don't eat and sleep to finish a web-site. I know you can relate to this. When you have all the other members of the family complaining about your behaviour and you end up silently thinking. "Hey, how ungrateful can you be, I am doing this for you all anyway." No that really doesn't work. You must keep in the vibrational flow. It is the steady drip drip drip of a tap that fills a bucket at the end of the day. The amount isn't important as the constancy of the action.
Talking about action, this is where a simple action plan can help. Don't just get up every day, go to your computer, turn it on and then decide what you are going to do, or do the first thing that comes to mind. You should know the night before, what you want to achieve the next day. This leaves you with a sense of excitement about getting up and getting your business moving.
You should have a clear and I must add simple, action plan to follow. Lets, say you could begin with continuing with your keyword search. Trying to get your approach to your niche more precise and exact. Then, you may want to begin work on a website, or put up a fresh article on a blog. A few simple actions steps, done regularly, will do wonders.
Of course, it is legitimate to also have a break now and again, if you feel overwhelm. There is much information to absorb and there is that moment of chaos before clarity that makes you very susceptible to vague comments drifting around in the atmosphere, (such as I have mentioned above.)
Another thing you can do, is to go to U-tube and watch a Google tutorial for example. Some of them are very short and just by watching them a couple of times, you can absorb an important point in affiliate home business marketing. However, you must be disciplined here, because it is so easy to get waylaid. There is so much information on every topic imaginable from Meditation, to Organic Gardening to Tips for your Prostrate, so don't let your eye get hooked on to other topics. This, I know takes discipline, but you can do it if you are very clear in your type-in searches. e.g. Google Tutorials. There are also some good tutorials for Seniors done by Community Groups that take you through internet basics very simply.
If I had to give you a motto for your affiliate home business, I guess it could be Persist, Play (for a bit) and then Push on.
