Does It Ever Make Sense to Create EBooks About Controversial Topics?

It is important to consider your topic when writing an ebook. Perhaps you are attracted to controversial topics, but are concerned about whether or not this is really a good business strategy to write about. Perhaps it is better to stick with safe, easy topics no one could be offended by. This way, you do not turn away customers and maybe more people would be interested in these topics. If this is your opinion, however, you are mistaken. It has been shown time and again that controversial topics attract a lot of attention and are usually great sellers in the ebook world!

Think about it. How often do you flip through the channels and look at the headlines of the tv programs. Certain titles that are shocking or strange probably attract your attention. While you may not like the program, you probably check in for a minute or two just to see what it is about. The same applies to ebooks. People will want to download your book for the sheer aspect of curiosity.

If you are still concerned, be aware that you do not have to take a particular side in your ebook. It is probably better if you don't. Such issues, like abortion, have many heated opinions from both sides of the issue. You do not want to turn a customer away. Therefore, it is better to just talk about the different arguments and allow the reader to decide for himself. It is fairer to present the facts instead of a slanted perspective that supports only one side of the issue.

So when you're deciding about the topic of your next ebook, consider a controversial topic. It may just be worth your while!
