Does Dancing Help Lose Weight?

These days there are so many different ways to lose weight and so many different opportunities for people to seriously take control of their life. But still despite all of those opportunities, people still struggle to lose weight and get healthier. So every opportunity that is around for a person to lose weight, should be and has to be used. Does dancing help lose weight? Yes and no!

  • Weight loss is really simple. You got to burn more calories then you consume and you lose weight. In other words you need a calorie deficit. I think that is simple and clear for everyone. Dancing for examples certainly burns calories. There are some dances that are more intense and harder, then others.
  • For example if a person is 155 pounds, then she will burn around 211 calories during a slow dance. But she can burn 422 calories wen doing aerobics, ballet or twist. How many calories you burn during dancing depends how intense it is, what kind of a dance you are doing and how long it is. Certainly you have a much better chance of losing weight when doing aerobics, then a slow dance.
  • But even that may not necessarily mean you will achieve weight loss. Because what matters in the end of the day, is calories in versus calories out. You may burn 500-600 calories during dancing or more, but if you are consuming more calories, then you will not make any progress.
  • It would be a good idea to first of all figure out how many calories you need to lose weight. Then you can easily calculate how many calories you need to burn during dancing. Weight loss is really simple once you understand what you are suppose to do and know what is important. That is why calorie counting is so important. Remember - calories in versus calories out.
