It showed that workers who ate a balanced diet of food were 10 times more likely to keep high energy levels throughout the entire workday. As opposed to those workers who ate junk food from that vending machine or fast food restaurants, or even skipped meals altogether.

And listen to this: 73% of employees who ate healthy diets reported high levels of productivity compared to only 24% of the bad eaters. With a little thought and planning, you can change your bad eating habits and still stick to your tight schedule." For energy that is sustainable throughout your entire day, eat of combination of protein, whole grains as well as a little bit of fat. Just keep away from those simple carbs and foods with tons of sugar; like cookies or cakes for that afternoon snack or pick-me-up. These only give you a temporary boost and energy lift.

Some ideas for a healthy snack that will keep your energy levels high and at an even keel are as follows.
1. Dried fruits. Apricots, raisins, bananas. These are great.

3. Nut butter or nuts
4. Dried peas (regular or wasabi)
5. Instant low-sugar oatmeal

These can be kept in your desk for easy access to in the middle of the day when you feel your energy start to wan.
