Crates are very useful when you are traveling with your pet and staying at surroundings that are not familiar for it. The dog would feel safe in the crate especially during these times. Crate training, though a bit difficult initially, is highly beneficial in the long run for you and your pet. The crate can be light built with wire or mesh but it should be big enough for your pet to feel comfortable with a little bet and a few of its chewy toys that it like much. Crate and dog training sessions should be done confidently with a positive attitude. Your pet will resist the crate by throwing a lot of tantrums and crying. This behavior should not be taken lightly but with a more firm and positive attitude. You should tap the crate's door firmly and say 'No'. Repeated training with the crate and repeated 'no' from the trainer would make the pup feel comfortable in the crate and it will stay quiet.
Use your pet's favorite treats to get it into the crate the next time as it will cause a ruckus to enter the crate again. Carry on this dog training practice for some time and allow your dog to stay in the crate for an hour or two and then let it out so it can run around in the house. When it is bed time you can carry the crate into the bedroom so he can feel secure with all of you in the bedroom and will naturally get quiet on his own bed in the crate.
Dogs have instincts and they usually don't defecate or urinate in the place they sit. This can be the best dog training to get your dog used to the crate. Keep it in the crate till its bladder is full and then let it out so it can finish its purpose in the selected place out of the house. When it returns, allow time with it in the house and teach it some tricks and games. Doing this will make your dog automatically turn to the crate to take its rest.
