If you already know the symptoms of psoriasis you may have learned that the symptoms vary for every individual affiliated with the disease. If you were recently diagnosed with psoriasis you may not know the symptoms of psoriasis so you should be aware that the vary from moderate and irritating to severe and painful.
You should know that symptoms of psoriasis also depend on the type of psoriasis. The symptom of having thick, rough, dry patches of skin that itch, crack, burn, or any combination there of is common for all forms of psoriasis. What is different, for the most part, in each form of psoriasis is the location of those thick patches of skin.
Plaque psoriasis is the most common form and with plaque psoriasis the location of the sores are around the bends of the body, behind the knee, the elbows, etc. The thick, red patches of skincare usually covered with dead skin that flake off very easily. The color of the scaly cells, or flaky skin, are white/silver.
Guttate psoriasis shows it's self as small red spots all over the body, similar in appearance to acne. With this form the sores, or patches of skin, are usually found on both the arms and the legs. The small red dots tend to appear fairly rapidly on the skin 2-3 weeks after a streptococcal infection, like strep throat or tonsillitis, or even other illnesses such as chicken pox or even a "simple" cold.
Inverse psoriasis often effects the more... "sensitive" areas of the body. As with plaque psoriasis these patches of skin show up in the bends of the body, however with inverse psoriasis this time it is in the folds of skin around the buttocks, the breasts, under the armpits or around the genitals . While inverse psoriasis suffers don't have thick patches and scales of skin found with plaque psoriasis, they do have the incredible itching. Also instead of the thick, rough patches of skin as with plaque psoriasis, inverse psoriasis sore may be smooth and shiny patches of skin.
Fortunately pustular psoriasis is the rarest form of psoriasis. Pustular psoriasis shows itself in the form of blisters. Fortunately they may only appear in limited amount, however in some case they are all over the body. Symptoms such as a fever, a headache, the chills, general joint pain, a feeling of general discomfort or uneasiness, decreased appetite, or nausea. You then will begin to notice a reddening of the skin, after that the blisters begin erupting. As with guttate psoriasis the sores, in this case blisters, appear in the "sensitive" areas, most commonly the buttocks. Also during the first few months you may notice hair loss. When the condition stabilizes the symptoms tend to improve.
