Out of state speeding tickets really are a pain whether you feel you were speeding or not.

The biggest issue is that if it's a state that far from home, the option of fighting the ticket in court diminishes with distance as you might not be back in that state within the next week or two for the court date. So you are quite limited in your rights to fight due to time and distance.

But as of 2005 federal regulation has all states report tickets to your home state so this ticket will be found out by your insurance company regardless.

If you can't afford higher insurance rates or your license is close to being suspended for multiple offenses, it might be best to hire an attorney to try to fight the ticket in that state on your behalf. Be mindful that this will easily cost 3 times the price of the ticket, but it's used when you can't by any means fight on your own or afford having your license taken away if that's the case.
