Do Not Look Online for Fat Burning Foods - Diet the Smart Way

Expert Author Isabel De Los Rios

It takes no particular genius to go online and find a list of fat burning foods. Diet programs that claim to know exactly what you should eat abound. There are a remarkable number of sites that suggest that you should eat strange and miraculous ingredients to achieve nearly instantaneous weight loss. What are the chances that you will succeed with any of them?

There is No Miracle Pill

It doesn't matter what they put in the pill, it won't make you lose weight. If you don't already know that I am sorry to be the one to break the bad news. So called "superfoods" are just so much clap trap, even if they are good for you, in and of themselves.

Yes, acai is loaded with antioxidants, but so are blueberries and they are a lot cheaper. Chocolate has them too, but you don't really want to eat a pound a day. Everything is relative, so use a little common sense.

I think my favorite thermogenic miracle food is pepper. While it is true that eating capsaicin based hot peppers will help speed up your metabolism, slightly, I can't imagine eating habaneras or scotch bonnets three meals a day. Can you imagine the heartburn?

The Smart Approach to Weight Loss

What does it take to diet intelligently? Start with real food, not fads. Certainly you can include acai, dark chocolate and hot peppers in any healthy diet, but they are not enough. Your diet should be varied and include as many organic items as you can reasonably afford. Before you ask why organics, let me tell you.

Your body will work best, most efficiently, if it isn't busy trying to break down the chemical and biological insults that are included in commercially produced foods. Do you have any idea what growth hormones, pesticides and herbicides do to your system? Frankly, neither do most of those agricultural conglomerates. What we do know though, is frightening.

Eat Right for Your Metabolism

Granted, each of us is perfectly capable of eating proteins, carbohydrates and fats and digesting them. The catch is that some of us digest certain things better than others. Someone who has a metabolism that functions best on proteins but eats a lot of carbohydrates will feel tired all day.

For an individual with a carbohydrate based metabolism, lots of protein will leave them feeling bloated and sluggish. Evaluating your metabolism is the first step towards dieting success.

So What Do I Eat?

No matter what type of metabolism you have, you want to fill up your shopping cart with good food. Organic poultry, whole eggs and butter as well as grass fed meats and wild caught fishes are prime choices. Include plenty of organic fruits and vegetables, especially leafy greens that are loaded with easily available calcium and seasonal berries which are full of fiber.

Raw nuts and nut butters make great snacks and boost your healthy fats. Raw milk products, used in moderation are tasty and offer digestive enzymes you don't find elsewhere. Raw honey or Stevia make good sweeteners when you want to indulge your sweet tooth. Olive oil and coconut oil offer great health benefits as well as helping you burn fat.

Skip the whole wheat and pick other whole grains instead. Experiment with quinoa, amaranth, spelt, oatmeal and brown rice. Try out meals made with buckwheat, teff and wild rice. If you really want bread or tortillas, pick sprouted grain varieties that you can find in your local healthy food store. With so much selection, you will never feel deprived.

The best thing is that all of these ingredients are healthy fat burning foods. Diet with these and you will feel good and look good in no time at all.
