Does the thought of bathing in millions of germs make you shudder? Well, it should. Think you are germ free? Stop for a moment and think about all the things you touch during the day.

Garbage cans, public doors, bus handles, toilet seats, pet bags, and even the steering wheel inside of your car are filled with millions of microscopic germs just waiting to latch on to your skin. The average person has more than one million germs crawling on them at any given time, which means that nearly everyone you meet is filled with harmful bacteria. Since germs are not all that particular when it comes time to find a new home, the moment that you shake someone's hand many of those skin crawlers will jump from that person's hand to your hand. Thankfully, there is a way to avoid becoming a germ vessel.

The answer to ridding yourself of all those harmful germs is hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer was invented in order to provide you with a way of cleaning your hands no matter where you are. Now, you may be thinking that you wash your hands every day, so you do not need hand sanitizer - but ask yourself this: how often do you spend more than ten minutes washing your hands? Ten minutes? That's right. Experts agree that in order to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water you need to take at least ten minutes per wash. Who has the time to stand at a sink for ten minutes?

This is precisely why hand sanitizer will quickly become your best friend. Use this handy liquid when you don't have the luxury of soap and water (nearly every moment of the day), and use it after you have washed with soap and water in order to get rid of all that you missed. The fact is that germs can be very harmful to your health, since they carry many diseases with them. Not only can stomach flus, colds, flus, and other viruses be spread through mere contact with the outside world, but you can also contract numerous strains of foreign disease just by hugging or kissing someone you know.

While you can't hide inside of your home forever (and even then, there are lots of little germs living in your house!), you can carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with you - just to be safe. When it comes to your health, there is no such thing as being too cautious.

John Grimes is with AllTerrainco.com - makers of natural hand sanitizer that kills MRSA and other germs.
