The Red Sea has narrow and sheltered shores, which are responsible for the abundant marine life that exists in it. The sea is a host to over 200 hard and soft species of coral, over 1000 invertebrates and over 110 species of fish out of which 10% are exclusive to the sea. The fish found here are colorful and the marine life also includes turtles, sharks, manta rays and dolphins! With such diversity in marine life, it is no wonder that diving Egypt holidays are so popular among enthusiasts.

The average temperature of the sea is around 26C. The water is clear so visibility is good. It also has a small tidal range. All of these make it a safe diving holiday. The Red Sea shares its shores with many North African and Middle Eastern countries, including Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Eritrea and Yemen, it is Egypt that takes the crown as the best spot for diving holidays.

Diving Red Sea holidays have built an excellent reputation for themselves over the years and attract scuba drivers and snorkelers from across countries. There are many good hotels and resorts on the Riviera in Egypt that provide quality accommodation and food for divers. The deep blue canyons and famous wrecks like the Dunraven are responsible for the popularity of diving holidays in Egypt. The Ras Mohammed and Tiran Island diving holiday sites near Sharm el Sheikh are also popular.

The Canyon and Blue Hole sites near the romantic resort of Dahab and those in Giftun Island in Hurghada are very popular too. Another excellent option is diving from Marsa Alam and the Hamata region as it has beautiful marine parks and pristine reefs. There are many other diving holiday sites like El Quesir, Soma Bay, El Gourna and Nuweiba. Liveaboard cruises also allow an opportunity to explore untouched diving sites.

For experienced divers, the Red Sea has a treasure hidden in its belly. The sea is a witness to many wreck sites which are a part of marine history today. These wrecks are examples which show how nature can make manmade things their home! There is the Ghiannis D which is a Greek boat that collided with another wreck and sunk in 1983. Divers get an opportunity to swim through the deserted hull and gawk in awe at moray eels, butterfly fish and shoals of batfish.

Another attraction of the diving holiday in the Red Sea is the Thistlegorm, a British ship. It was sunk after a bomb attack in 1941. It has a place of honor as the top ten diving sites in the world. The cargo of this huge ship is well preserved till date and divers can feast their eyes on the motorbikes, rifles and train carriages of yesteryears.

Egypt has all the back-up needed to hold one of their kind diving holidays. Be it amateurs or experienced divers, it has something to offer everybody. There are liveaboards which not only provide excellent accommodation facilities but you can have more fun underwater thanks to them. These liveaboards have double or twin cabins, air conditioned rooms with bathrooms inside. There are seating arrangements on the deck and indoor too. They also have a bar which offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The crew members are experienced and guide divers to the best diving sites in the Red Sea.
