Discouraged in Your Online Business Success?

Expert Author Steve Jankowski

Discouragement is probably the most dangerous feeling to dwell on when it comes to running a successful business, be it a home, online or brick and mortar business. After owning many different businesses for more than 20 years, I have seen the spectre of discouragement hinder my business growth as well as many others.

Discouragement is a time stealer. It keeps you from doing what you know you need to do to explode and grow your business. To many people spend their time concentrating and thinking about their failures when they should be focusing on the little things that incrementally result in success.

Discouragement can alter your decision making processes. When you dwell on the things that have not been working like you had hoped they would, you become tempted to take short cuts or even to compromise the ethics that you know should control your business decisions.

Successful entrepreneurs have many traits in common, and one of these traits is an belief that your business will improve and that the future is brighter than today. Optimism is a trait that can be learned by disciplining yourself to not dwell on the failures. You learn from your mistakes and then move forward in another direction.

We have all heard the stories of business titans that went bankrupt and just a couple of years later are worth millions, or even billions. You can be sure that these people were not victims of the debilitating effects of discouragement.

As a business owner that went bankrupt himself, and who made over $10,000 online just 5 weeks after starting a biz on the internet, I know that mindset was vital to that success.

The business that took me down the path of bankruptcy was one that I loved. It provided for my family for nearly nine years. When it became obvious that economic factors would result in the demise of my "baby", I could not wait to get going with my next business. I lost millions, but could not wait for what the future held for me.

The internet provided me with a great opportunity without all of the employees, inventory, accounting and insurance headaches that my brick and mortar business required. The products that I marketed initially required that I speak to people over the phone after they found me online, and I had to convince them of the value of my products.

A discouraged person cannot sell. A discouraged person cannot think creatively and is often paralyzed by negativity.

If you are running any kind of business, be it a traditional, home or online business, understand that you are an entrepreneur. The path to success is often difficult, but optimism, determination and belief in yourself are integral to your business success.

Whatever you do, do not let yourself become discouraged. It could spell disaster for your business.
