Move in closer
If you're looking to create photography that has a real impactful look to it, one of the things you should do is get closer to the subject either by moving closer or by zooming in. Some of the most wonderful looking pictures have been taken using this technique. If you were to look at a photographer's portfolio you will most definitely see this kind of picture where the background is a little blurred but the subject stands out in immaculate detail.
In fact allot of people make good money by using this Digital Photography Class tip, just by setting their pictures up on a simple website and then sell the rights to use on a website or magazine. Imagine that you took a close up photo of some beautiful flowers in a garden or forest and somebody come to you looking for a really impactful picture for their florist's website. Well they may know about flowers but it doesn't mean they know anything about photography! I know I went on a bit there but only because there is an opportunity here.
What should you do to create these priceless photos?
Move in closer and fill your picture with the subject, If it's a rose bush then make one or two of the roses the focal point of your picture making sure the detail is of the highest quality. An example of this would be, the rose you focus on will fill most of the picture and the other roses in the bush appear a little blurry.
By moving a few steps closer or by using the zoom to fill the viewfinder with the subject, you will eliminate any background distractions and fully show off all the detail of your subject.
For small objects, use the cameras macro or flower mode to get sharp close-ups.
