The both of them are quick to grow; the annual is the more common low-cost grass that is used in the south. The perennial ryegrass is more of a premium type graphs. The annual ryegrass only lives for one season. Most people use annual ryegrass as a temporary lawn. Perennial ryegrass is a deep green, fine textured grass with a very shallow root system. You can use these grasses to mix with Kentucky bluegrass and have a very nice and blended lawn. By adding these two together, you reduce your chances to catch diseases by a lot. The perennial ryegrass can be used on high traffic lawns. It is a very tough and durable grass, so you don't have to worry about it. The perennial does best in all cool season areas, so make sure to plant it up north.
