Dieting Made Easy - How To Beat the Holiday Eating and Arrive Home Motivated for More Weight Loss

Expert Author Chrissie Webber

Is your life a cycle of 'being good' before a holiday 'being bad' on holiday and then beating yourself up when you get home and hop on the scales?

Have you ever wondered why it is so hard to re-motivate yourself when you have regained the pounds you worked so hard to lose?

I believe the answer is all in our thinking and belief systems! Since when has a good telling off done you any favours in aiding sustainable weight loss?

Having just returned from working in Singapore I reflected on how easy it was to get back into they rhythm of the eating patterns and food types, that I have determined suit my body. Whilst away I enjoyed trying so many different foods without a thought about what was 'good' or 'bad' for me. Before I left I set myself three goals...

1. To enjoy everything I ate without any guilt

2. To eat only when hungry and not to over eat

3. Not to worry about weight gain

What better way to motivate yourself than having lived life to the full, enjoyed the food around you and then returned home with an attitude of 'That was really great, now back to my 'Conscious Eating' and the foods that suit me best'.

So, I probably put on a few pounds, but not so that anyone else even notices. My clothes still fit me and my motivation is high because there is no guilt, shame or self denigration. As soon as I arrive home I slip back easily into my usual habits of healthy eating.

There is no struggle to lose weight because this is not the focus. Food is not the issue, eating in full consciousness of my body signals is. By changing my whole attitude to the food I eat, I can enjoy every mouthful I take and all without any food restricting.

Balance and body awareness do not mean you can't enjoy yourself. Quite the reverse in fact. You enjoy your food much more when there is no guilt, shame, overeating or comfort eating.

The longer you allow yourself to think negatively, the longer sustainable motivation will elude you. Getting back on track takes no time at all when you are kind and loving to yourself.
