Can you recall all Isaac Newton's accomplishments?

Let me refresh you a bit: Sir. Isaac Newton was a physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, and theologian; in conclusion one of the most influential men in human history.

When close to the end of his days, someone asked him what he thought was the best advice he could give to others, who wanted to be successful in life. What was the secret?

His plain and smart answer was: "Stand on the shoulders of a giant to see further than the giant."

I give several interpretations to this phrase:

"The smartest people are those who are able to learn from the best."

"There is no need for you to start from zero when someone before you already laid down the basics."

"Base on other's work to reinvent yours."

"My favorite interpretation: if others have done it, if others have succeeded and if others have already gone through it, then I can do it as well, and perhaps with more ease if I follow their path."

When I decided to start my own enterprise, believe me, I had no idea where or how to start; especially because I was determined to do it through Internet.

I started on my own, probably just as you have. This led me to fail several times, which is great because is one of the surest ways to learn; unfortunately is also the hardest. And not everyone is willing to fight failure in order to succeed.

As a matter of fact, most people (97% according to some statistics) give up when they see things start getting a bit too difficult or complicated.

You see, most people would do whatever is needed to stay within their comfort zone.

Unfortunately, in order to succeed you need to get yourself out of your comfort zone and do things that are not so nice to do. For example, working on your own project extra time, substituting t.v. hours for learning hours; inspiring yourself to read at least one new book per month; pushing buttons on the phone to call your prospects; getting into selling, even turning yourself into a sales person.

Many of these things are not fun for most people. They sure were not fun to me. I had fear of the phone, having to call people to talk about my business was really painful to me.

But someone taught me to switch my focus and think about which pain was greater? to get uncomfortable for a while or to regret for the rest of my life that I never tried hard enough.

Because I rather have the first type of pain, I didn't give up. Instead, I looked for a smarter way to approach my Internet business, and that way was following someone's steps.

Luckily, I found several great people who guided me and keep teaching me even to this day.

So don't feel bad if you don't know anything or know very little about Internet marketing. As I told you at the beginning of these lessons we've all started somewhere.

And for you one of the smartest ways to start is by picking your very own mentor or mentors. This doesn't have to cost you a fortune, it can, depending on where you look. But nowadays you can find a great mentor even for free or he/she can even be your sponsor if you join a business opportunity.

This is one of the greatest parts about the home based business opportunity industry, usually you get sponsored by someone, and your sponsor is precisely who teaches and shows you how to succeed. But you need to choose smartly.

My very first mentor online, the person who opened my eyes to a world I never thought existed and to whom I own the transformation of my business was the famous Mike Dillard. It's very probable that you've already heard of him, because he has one of the most successful training programs in the Internet and Network Marketing industry.

You don't need to reinvent the wheel, or start your self-employment journey alone. In fact you shouldn't. You can stand on the shoulders of other people, who have already crossed the bridge you're trying to cross. This way you will not only see further than they, you will most likely be able to reach a higher mountain.

This is the dream of every entrepreneur, but if you want to succeed quickly the smartest thing to do is to follow step by step what others have done. That is the surest way to success. Once you claimed the mountain you will have enough time and material to do it your own way.
