Clairvoyance is an all encompassing term for the ability to be aware of information by means other than the five physical senses. There are many different ways for clairvoyance to be expressed and utilized. Some individuals only ever experience or use one particular aspect of clairvoyance though everyone is born with the capacity and potential for using all of them. There are also various levels of clairvoyance that can be experienced depending upon how the ability is expressed.
Clairvoyance can be broken down further into the ways that the person processes this information. These variations are tied to the physical senses. There is a potential extrasensory analogue for each of the five physical senses. However, the primary modes of clairvoyant expression are clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing), clairsentience (clear thinking).
The word clairvoyance means "clear seeing" and this psychic ability is also called second sight. It is the ability to see information in varying detail within the mind's eye. The way the information is displayed within the mind works in much the same way as information is projected during eidetic (photographic) memory. This means that the better a person is at photographically visualizing and remember, the more accurate their clairvoyant vision will be. It doesn't mean that a person who isn't inclined to photographic memory can't be clairvoyant. There are different levels of clairvoyance and they can all be strengthened through practice and regular use.
Clairaudience is the ability to receive psychic information "audibly" through voices or sounds that are processed through the auditory center instead of the visual cortex. If a person is more inclined to remembering things audibly then they are more likely to develop clairaudience. It is basically a different way of processing the same extrasensory information. This is because the psychic senses are filtered through the same parts of our brain as our physical senses. You will find this to be true when you focus on developing clairvoyance.
When I was younger, I had a very keen audible memory and I experienced many moments of clairaudience. When I was in my teens I began to develop my photographic memory so that I could read and learn faster. I soon found that as my photographic memory improved, my audible memory waned and I became a much more visual person as a result. I still have the rare clairaudient moment from time to time, but much of my psychic perception is now centered around visualizing and conceptualizing through clairsentience.
Clairsentience is the ability to know things psychically. Whole concepts, ideas, and scenarios from remote locations or even the future and past enter the mind fully formed. You can think of it as a form of psychic learning and it is what you work up to when you practice developing clairvoyance. All of the various levels of clairvoyance have an increasing amount of clairsentience about them. The more experience you have and the more you practice, the closer you will be to experiencing clairsentience.
There are higher levels of clairvoyance that can be attained as you strengthen your psychic abilities. As you relearn how to process information and begin looking at the world from an interconnected perspective you will find yourself suddenly knowing and understanding certain things on a much deeper level. When you learn to let go of the crippling fear and self doubt that is holding you back, you will begin to find that you are the only one who truly decides the limits. Developing clairvoyance is all about realizing the significance of the connections between things. The various levels of clairvoyance that you can experience are all stepping stones on the path to omniscience.
