If you're a fan of beach holidays, just lounging round the pool, or people watching, then perhaps you've noticed that the designer bikini is becoming increasingly popular.

Here are some of the reasons why.

1.    You can wear the same brands as the celebs wear.  If you're keen to look like your favourite actress or singer then maybe you'll go the whole hog, and get the same sort of swimwear too.

2.    You'll feel like a celeb as well as looking like one.  Perhaps you'll enjoy getting the glances, or seeing people wondering if you really are famous, and trying to rack their brains as to where they know you from.

3.    You'll want to show off if you've spent all year at the gym, and eating a healthy diet. Why not make an even bigger impression in a designer bikini.

4.    Perhaps you can't always get what you want in the high street.  Not everyone is the right size and shape for a high street bikini, and so it's a false economy buying 2 or 3 bikinis each year that you know won't really fit you properly.

5.    Designer bikinis are often very different from most high street designs.  If you're the sort of person who likes unusual designs, or bold bright colours, then you might find exactly the bikini you're looking for, from a designer brand.

6.    Maybe you're fed up of seeing the same bikinis on the beach or by the pool.  If don't want to look like everybody else, and want to stand out from the crowd, why not consider a more exclusive type of bikini?

7.    If you've already got the designer sunglasses, then perhaps you'll want to complete the look with a bikini from your favourite designer too.

8.    You might already have a wardrobe full of designer clothes and want to continue the theme with your bikinis.  Perhaps you've been converted to wearing nicer more stylish clothes, made from much better materials, and don't see why you should compromise with your bikinis.

9.    If you're the sort of person that goes abroad often, and spends a lot of time on the beach or by the pool then you'll be wearing your bikinis a lot.  Why not get something that fits, and that you like if you're going to be wearing it a lot?

10.    Maybe you just want to indulge yourself, and although it may be excessive, perhaps you just want one.  Maybe you'll economise or cut back in other areas so that you can afford one.  Maybe you'll just buy one, and forgo something else you'd been saving for.
