If you have an uncontrollable, worrisome amount of debt, you may have realized that a debt management is the way out of this nightmarish situation. There is a great deal that you need to know and understand about debt management, but what you need to know first is whether or not you meet the qualifications that would get you help from settlement companies.

Some companies will require you to have at least $7500 in unsecured debt. Unsecured financial issues is the only type of debt that qualifies for settlement, and this is usually credit card debt, but it can also include signature loans or any other type of credit that does not have collateral property attached to it. While some companies set the limit at $7500, the majority of companies will require you to have at least $10,000 in unsecured debt.

Aside from the amount of debt that you owe, most debt settlement companies cannot help you if you do not have a job or some other form of income. Without a viable source of income, you cannot possibly meet the terms of any settlement that is negotiated for you. Before the settlement company enters into negotiation with your creditors, they will estimate how much your share of the settlement will be - how much you may have to pay. If you do not have these funds available, they will set up a savings plan for you, and once you have saved the estimated amount, negotiations will begin.

Those are the only requirements that debt settlement companies have for their clients. While debt settlement companies deal primarily with credit card debt, they can often help you figure out legal ways to deal with other types of debt that you have as well, so that you can truly get all of your debts settled once and for all.

If you are at least $10,000 in unsecured debt it would financially behoove you to talk with a debt settlement company. Creditors of unsecured debt are scared and as a consumer you should capitalize on this recession and eliminate your unsecured debt.
