The process of arbitration or negotiation between the debtor and the creditor is known as the process of settlement. This is a debt relief alternative which is used by debtors or people in high debt condition. A person in debt of around $1000 or $3000 cannot use these options. The customer must be at least be in $8500 of debt to utilize debt relief measures. The reason why most people opt to use the services of a settlement company because they give the customer a debt relief of around 60-70% or more on the debt bill.
These companies work on simple fundamentals of arbitration. Once the customer approaches a settlement company he is faced by a counselor who makes note of all the debts he has and the terms of agreement of payment. In the next step the counselor helps the customer to put down al his sources of income and brings before him his entire personal balance sheet.
The second step is to put the customer on a counseling program in which he is made aware of his financial condition and he us prohibited from taking any more debt so that the current condition is not further aggravated. Now the counselor gets in touch with the customers creditors informing them about the customers current condition and telling them that he is in a financial crisis and is seeking relief services and if things do not work out for him he might even have to file for bankruptcy.
The creditors are aware that if the customer files for bankruptcy he would no be able to get any money from the customer. So they open up for the process of negotiation in which an average settlement company gives the customer a benefit of 40-50% on the debt bill. The customer also gets a plan and a monthly payment suiting has need. In a predefined time frame the customer becomes completely debt free.
These are the reasons the settlement program is so popular between people. They have helped the customer regain financial health and a more peaceful mindset.

It would be wise to not go directly to a debt settlement company but rather first visit a debt relief network. The top debt relief networks only allow debt settlement companies into their accredited organizations that prove a track record of successfully negotiating debts and have also been certified.
