If the current economy hasn't frightened you into cutting back on your credit card use, maybe you should hear this. According to a new survey from the Associated Press and AOL Health, debt stress can really make you ill. According to the study, people who are currently in the red were 19% more likely to experience digestive problems, 20% more like to suffer from back pain, and 29% more likely to suffer from migraines. Not to mention the huge impact it can have on your heart.

If you are experiencing physical symptoms of depression, or other physical ailments, be sure to speak with your doctor regarding these very real effects. No, it's not in your head, you may really be suffering life threatening conditions brought on by stress. And don't forget, the number one cause of relationship problems is financial problems. You owe it to yourself, and those you love and care about, to seek assistance.

If you really can't find your way out of debt on your own, you may need to seek the assistance of a qualified debt counselor. You could consider consumer credit counseling, debt settlement, a consolidation loan, or bankruptcy. There is nothing more important than your health, and seeking outside assistance may help relieve some of the stress you are experiencing.

Whatever you choose to do, it's important to remember that you are not alone, and be sure to discuss your situation with those closest to you that you can trust. You may be surprised how many others are in your exact situation, and finding someone to confide in may be just what the doctor ordered.
