Sometimes, dealing with people like those who run your Web hosting company is tough. Why? Well, where shall we start? For one thing, these people can be impossible to get in touch with! How many times have you sent out an email with no reply from your Web host? If you have never experienced this, you are lucky. Another reason why these people can be hard to deal with is because it can take them so long to answer your correspondences. For that matter, Web hosts that offer no telephone numbers might be the worst. It is so nerve-wracking to have to deal with a Web host exclusively over email, especially if you have a trigger-happy spam mail filter and a Web hosting company who is not in the habit of giving warnings before they shut your site down from bogging up the servers. And then, it is even more frustrating when you try to tell them that it got hacked, and they say that it is not their fault, so you have to deal with it.
Well, here are some tips for dealing with these people. And remember, cut bait and run if you have to. Do not waste valuable hours of down time trying to negotiate with people who do not seem to care about your business.
First, if you get no reply within six hours of emailing them, email them again. Three hours later, email them again. If the matter is pressing, keep it up. Of course, keep the emails professional and polite. If you can at all remember, do not curse them out or make threats or anything like that. Simply and calmly state the problem, that you are not getting a response, and that you would like help. Then, just keep sending it. Eventually they will get the message.
If they have a telephone number, call it if you have a problem. If the tech cannot help you, always ask to speak to a manager. If your problem does not get resolved, hang right up and call right back! You will most likely get someone else, and maybe they will know more than the previous tech. Continue this until you either get your problem fixed, or until you are convinced that you have tapped out their knowledge and helpfulness. And remember, you are the customer, so you are in charge.
