Djs have had some major changes over the years with how they play music in the night clubs. In the olden days it was all about vinyl. The dj would pick the main records that they would play in the time that they have allocated to them at a night club. These records would be packed and ready to go in large silver hard carrier boxes that were specially made for twelve inch records. After much practice to make perfect the music that they would play, they would be off with their collection to the night club for their time on the decks.
In night clubs of today, it's a little different as djs no longer have to carry around their beloved twelve inch records where ever they work, but just have a much smaller case of cds for their collection. But the job remains the same, that djs still have to practice to know what tunes to play in what order for perfection.
In the eighties when the night club owners were changing the record decks to the dj cd players, it was exciting for some of the younger generation of djs as they embraced the new technology and got to grips with the new way of playing music, where as the older generation of djs were much more skeptical of this new age equipment and many had thoughts that it would never take off.
Well they were wrong. The problem with the older generation of djs was that the good old fashioned vinyl had crept into the hearts of these folks and the magical musky sound of the record could not be copied in any way or form with a cd. The cd was a crisp clear sound and could not mimic that musky muffly sound of a record.
With the younger generation of djs, that deep heart felt feeling that the vinyl gave to some djs just didn't have that affect on many of the young djs as perfection was what these djs required and that came with the cd players.
The cd decks that night clubs have are so far advanced now that they can manipulate and sound that the dj wants to play. The dj cd players were made to the upmost perfection for the enjoyment of the young dancers of today. But you will find that there are still some night clubs that will have record decks for that great nostalgic trip down memory lane.
