When you have a panic attack, it can feel like the world is closing in around you and you can't breathe. In order to find out how to cure anxiety and panic attacks and rid yourself from their feelings, you first need to know how they are triggered for you personally. Then, you can employ these 3 useful tips and get yourself back to a normal state.
1. Breathing Exercises
The first thing that you can do to help yourself cure anxiety and panic attacks is to perform some simple breathing exercises. These can be performed at virtually any place and time, so it is one of the more effective methods to use.
The technique is very simple. First, take a deep breath in through your nose, hold it for about 4 seconds, then exhale through your mouth. Repeat this step, increasing the amount of time that you hold your breath by 2, until you reach 10 seconds. Then, repeat holding your breath for 10 seconds until your anxiety symptoms start to dissipate.
This breathing exercise will help you cure anxiety and panic attacks by getting oxygen to your blood and brain, as well as letting you focus on the exercise itself. It usually takes about 1-2 minutes for the entire method to take effect, so go slow and count it out.
2. True Thoughts
When you are having an anxiety attack, everything around you begins to take on an alternate reality and gets blown out of proportion. To stop this and cure anxiety and panic attacks, one of the things that you can do is to think of things that you know are true facts.
For example, think of specific dates in your life- i.e. your birth date, your age, your weight (okay, maybe not that one). It's good to focus on things that you know are true because this settles your grip on reality and balances your nerves.
3. Physical Exercise
Anxiety attacks can sometimes be brought on by a lot of pent up energy and emotions. In order to get yourself on a more level balance and cure anxiety and panic attacks, try doing some light aerobic exercise. This will allow your body to get more oxygen, and will increase blood flow to your brain, allowing you to make more rational decisions.
Exercising regularly will also be good for your health, and will help your body regulate any hormones that may be out of sync. Obviously, you can't always turn to exercise when you are having a panic attack, so try to exercise at least 4 times a week to help yourself cure anxiety and panic attacks.
