Every new relationship feels great at first. You enjoy spending time with the other person and getting to know them. But no matter how long into a relationship you are, there are a few bits of advice that are crucial to keep in mind in order to make sure the relationship gets off to a good start and has a solid foundation. A good relationship takes work, and so here are some things that I feel to be crucial advice for any new relationship.
Crucial Advice #1
Keep the Attraction Going
The first piece of crucial advice for any new relationship is to keep in mind, is to keep doing what attracted thatother person to you to begin with. It should go without saying that if you fail to keep that up, your relationship runs a greater risk of failure, especially without that sustained attraction. While learning how to create and maintain attraction doesn't come naturally for many men and women, it is absolutely crucial to a relationship.
Crucial Advice #2
Openness, not Transparency
The next piece of crucial advice for any relationship is that you need to be open and honest. Don't mistake this for giving away so much information that you are totally transparent or an open book. There is something to be said for maintaining some mystery in the relationship (hint: this is a great tool for creating attraction.) Be honest and be consistent and don't hide secrets in a relationship as this will help you establish trust which I think we can all agree is crucial to any new relationship. But don't volunteer every embarrassing part of your life right off the bat.
My Most Crucial Advice for a New Relationship
Have fun!
The most crucial advice for any new relationship that I can give is to just have fun. Don't be in a relationship based out of forced obligation. I can't stress this enough. Don't put yourself in a relationship out of obligation. A feeling of obligation will take all the fun out of things for you and you will be absolutely miserable. Be in the relationship because you want to, not because you have to (different standards apply with marriage though - funny thing about a commitment in front of God...). If you make sure to have as much fun as you can getting to know the other person and discover new ways to get to know them, you'll keep the attraction going and the relationship will keep getting stronger.
