You can not steer away of facts. Soon, either you or someone you know will be the target of robbery, car theft, or even attack or sexual assault. The numbers provided above don't include the chance of you becoming a victim of identity fraud, scams and computer crimes that are all over the place from underground gangs. This puts the stats above 50/50.
It is up to you to protect yourself from the above and what ever you do could make the difference of you been a victim or not as the police can only do something after something has happened which does not sound very attractive. There are very effective ways for you to protect you and your family and it maybe something for you to think about in the future.
From one thing I have learned from my research is that these people seem to be repeat offenders and leave a crime trial, whether it be in different countries or in different names. You have the free tools available to investigate. If you become suspicious of someone then all you would have to do is a background check. This will tell you everything you need to know about the individual. If they have committed a crime or anything, then the background check will reveal the truth. This allows you to plan your future with this person and allows you to defend against them.
It used to be an expensive task to do background checks as you would have had to hire a private investigator who has contact with criminal investigation databases but these tools are now affordably available to you.
