Do you know what your credit profile is? Have you checked it in the last day or two? Many people who claim to know what their credit history is have been shocked to find out the changes in the lending market have affected their score to drop several points from when they last checked it. Did you know your score could decrease dozens of points in just a few days without your permission? It is important to have an understanding of where you are in the credit score chart so you can lower interest rates, apply for loans, and feel more secure about identity theft.

A credit score can range from as low as 300 all the way up to 850. It is reported by the three credit bureaus which include Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. They are the ones that make the decision and place you where they think you fit best on the credit score chart. It is said to be that about 45% of borrowers are in the 750 ranges and greater. While the other 55% are lying on the below 750 ranges.

Once you know your exact profile on the credit score chart, you can strategize what the best ways would be to increase your credit profile. You may notice large improvement by doing some of the most important practices. These include paying down your debt to below 35% of you limit, paying off over the minimum monthly payment, and accumulating at least 3 open lines of credit to use properly. These techniques will definitely bring you to a great start in achieving a fine credit score but first you must check your credit to know where you're starting from.
