Former President George W. Bush in his State of the Union address in 2007 had announced a 22% increase in governmental grants in the field of research and development of alternate energy. However, his second speech delivered at NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) at Golden Colorado resulted in some astonishing developments.
At this time NREL was laying off employees randomly and immediately after the Presidential speech, they were re-recruited! Needless to mention, the American public whole-heartedly supports the governmental initiatives by way of research grants, tax exemptions and other financial rebates for research and development of alternate energy sources.
You might be interested to know more about NREL. Interestingly NREL, an integral part of the National Bioenergy Center, is 'virtual' with no brick and mortar offices to call as its premises. Its primary objective is to further the cause of the government's initiatives in the field of creating alternative energy sources. According to Laboratory Director Dan Arvizu, the field researchers and scientists on board of NREL are working in unison to achieve the market objectives and find practical, viable and economical alternate energy solutions.
They are guided by the core objectives of NREL's research and technological development wings. Their areas of function include: understanding various renewable energy resources, converting such energies to usable electricity and fuels and ultimately ensuring its practicality for domestic and industrial use. Needless to mention, this government-backed virtual institution works with the support of the governmental initiatives to find and create alternate energies which can impact our economy and change our lifestyle in future.
