Renewable energy might seem like something right out of a science fiction novel, and it used to be the entry point to generate it for your own personal use was too high for the average person. There are many reasons why you should consider renewable energy as a power source for your home, the most important being evident in the name, it's renewable. It used to be you would have to pay thousands of dollars to have solar panels installed, but now for as little as $200 you can take on this project on your own. Once you have your solar panel or wind generator in place, you'll also start to see your monthly utility bill go down. Now who doesn't like the sound of that? Also, some government entities may offer tax rebates for the installation and use of solar panel power (be sure to check with your local or federal government for details).

What it comes down to is this, there is no reason any longer that we should be tied to the hip of the utilities companies for there power. We need to step up as a society and make it a priority to continue to research and invest in renewable energy sources.
