There are two main ways that you can make money using blogs for affiliate marketing. One way is to have your blog centered around a niche and then promote products in that niche. The other way is to create a blog that has a review (or reviews) of products or services.
You should keep in mind that when you're creating blogs for affiliate marketing or for any type of marketing for that matter, you should never just be trying to sell, sell, sell. Be subtle when giving a review or product recommendation. Also make sure that you find an affiliate product that is relevant to the topic of your blog. If you're blog is about dog training, most likely no one is going to respond to you selling a weight loss product.
Niche Blogs
If you want to make money with niche blogs make sure the affiliate product you are trying to sell will appeal to your readers and that you can do a good job of including it in your blog without seeming to desperate for a sale. Keep your marketing attempts natural and make sure they fit in with the flow of your blog. When creating content for your blog, you want to pre-sell your affiliate product. Make sure that you're giving them quality information, but at the same time not revealing everything. You want to tell them what to do, but not how to do it. Then include a link or links back to an affiliate product that would help answer the questions that they have. You also want to make sure that you optimize your blog for the search engines. Do your keyword research and then after you pick some good terms, continue to use them throughout your blog so that you can rank well for those terms.
Review Blogs
There are two ways to create review blogs. You can have your entire blog centered around one affiliate product or service or you can have multiple reviews for different products within the same niche. When creating these reviews, it's a good idea to either have purchased the product or have done some research on the product, so it appears that you are an insider. Nobody wants rehashed information that they could have gotten from the sales page. It's also best if the review is overall positive, but should have negative points so that your readers trust what you're saying. To optimize your blog you simply want to go after keywords that use the product name and variations of it (i.e., product name review, buy product name, product name scam, etc).
Traffic to your Blog
There are numerous ways to drive traffic to your blog. You should first start off social bookmarking all your blog posts to all the major directories. Then you can drive traffic by doing article marketing, video marketing, PPC advertising, blog and forum posting, etc. You can also use social media sites like Facebook and twitter to drive additional traffic.
