Courier Jobs - How to Get the Best From Your Accountant

So you have chosen your accountant to help you with your courier jobs. All the research has been done and you are happy to employ him/her... What next?

Well just a few hints and tips to try and stop it all going horribly wrong. Unfortunately regardless of how much preparation you have done not all accounting relationships are made in heaven!!

Here are a few signs that you need to watch out for.

Is your accountant difficult to contact?

Do you feel you are not getting the correct information you need?

Are you receiving invoices that you do not feel are justified? or you do not understand?

Having a good and pro-active working relationship with your accountant is extremely important for you and your business. Lets face it they are employed to try and take some of the pressure off you they should not be causing you more!

You should expect your accountant to inform you of any major changes within your business, keep to agreed timescales, let you know about any issues regarding your expenditure, cash flow etc.

If you do experience problems with your accountant and feel you need to complain I would, in the first instance, tackle any issues directly with them. Be prepared and have all your concerns listed so you can go through each one individually. However, if you have any serious problems you can make a complaint to the professional body they are registered with.

As with anything in life nothing is "foolproof" and you could experience problems so always, always keep your eye on what they are doing and remember you are paying them for their services. They are not doing it as a favour.
