Waterford city was founded by the Vikings around 852AD and is a treasure trove of historic attractions, ancient cobbled streets and a charming harbour. Despite being a historic city, Waterford has its fair share of ultra modern shops, trendy bars and hopping nightclubs making it a top destination for shopping and nightlife in the south east of Ireland.
Attractions to see within the city itself include Christ Church Cathedral. This neo-classical Georgian cathedral, which claims to be the only one of its kind in Ireland, was built in the 11th century.
