Decorating Your Kitchen Window Using Valances
Of all the rooms in my house I seem to have problems when it comes to styling my kitchen. Like most homes, my kitchen is the heart of my house and the room I love the most. Decorating is difficult since my windows are so tiny therefore I need to choose just the right valance patterns and I am not sure if that means I could use something like scarf valances or should I look into choosing a custom valance.
Valances are decorative fabrics that hides the mounting hardware of a regular curtain they can transform curtains into a much more impressive design piece and they are an excellent way to accentuate a room, due to the colorful nature of valances.
Maybe I am picker than most at it takes me forever to find styles that suit me. You would not believe the amount time I spend looking. They have to be just right. You would think it would be an easy task for such a small decorative item. Since I spend a lot of time in my kitchen I want it to be enjoyable and fit my personal style.
My other rooms are outfitted with valances I love and were easy to find but for some reason my kitchen is presenting a problem. It may seem like a trivial matter but it is important to me. In conversations with other homeowners I have found lots of people have this problem. My sister went with country valances for her home décor which suit her taste but I am afraid country does not appeal to me.
I have even started to watch more design shows where the home owner has made their own and they do seem relatively simple and inexpensive to make. All the designer does is use a small piece of fabric and some basic sewing which only required a few straight lines. Then with the right lengths and design flair they look like a professional designed them. And in this case it was a professional. But you don't have to be, just copy a design you like and that fits your décor.
Believe it or not but valances tie your room together almost like having the perfect painting on your wall or just the right accent color on your backsplash. By conducting further research and determining my budget I know that the perfect set of valances are out there waiting to grace my beautiful kitchen.
